1.教學目標 | English for Hotel is a multimedia course designed to provide a course of interactive materials for hospitality students preparing for hotel internship or employment. Each unit covers a particular area of a hotel’s daily business, e.g. checking in and checking out, talking about rooms and hotel equipment, hotel services such as food and drink, discussing activities, giving advice, dealing with complaints etc. The course will help students better prepare for their work experience and internship/placement. |

2.教學綱要 | After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
• Improve their ability to communicate with hotel/restaurant guests and other staff.
• Learn the vocabulary of all the main areas in the hospitality field.
• Gain confidence in using English in the hotel or the restaurant environment. |

6.成績評定及課堂要求 | 1. Attendance 15%

6. Final Exam 25% 1. To successfully complete a language course, attending class regularly and participating actively are
essential. Missing class, arriving late, or half-hearted participation in class work will negatively impact
your participation/attendance grade. Late arrival to class is counted as a partial absence and will result
in points being deducted from your attendance grade.Six or more absences will generally result in failure of the course.
2. You will submit weekly homework/assignments either on our course website located at our NQU e-learning platform or in class. These weekly assignments will focus on unit exercises in textbooks.
3. Cell phones should be set to silent and out of sight. Laptops should also be put away. If we are
engaged in an activity where you need to use the dictionary or any other app in your cell-phone or your
laptop, I will let you know. Otherwise, they should be out of sight.
4. Please be respectful during oral presentations and classroom discussions. When somebody is speaking (a classmate or the teacher), listen carefully. Do not talk to the person sitting next to you or check your
phone or computer. 1. Extra points will be given in the early-bird card in the class.
2.If you send me an email, I will try to respond within 48 hours if it is a question that requires a short
answer. If your question requires a long answer, please make an appointment at my office hours. |
